Start a Catchball Team
Ready to bring Catchball to your community? Follow these steps to get your team up and running. It's easier than you think!
You need a minimum of 6 players to form a team, but aim for 10-12 to ensure you always have enough for practices and games.
- Post on local community boards and social media
- Reach out to friends, coworkers, and neighbors
- Contact local fitness groups and women's organizations
- Use the Catchball Connect app to find interested players near you
You'll need a volleyball-sized court with a net. Many community centers, schools, and parks have suitable facilities.
- Contact local community centers and JCCs
- Check school gyms that may be available evenings/weekends
- Look for outdoor volleyball courts in parks
- Indoor facilities are ideal for year-round play
Each player needs a keshett (catching net), and you'll need balls and a regulation net.
- Visit our Shop for official Catchball equipment
- Order keshetts in bulk for team discounts
- A standard volleyball net works perfectly
- Consider team jerseys for identity and unity
Consistency is key! Establish regular practice days and times that work for your group.
- Start with 1-2 practices per week
- Evening sessions (7-9 PM) tend to work best for working women
- Keep sessions to 1.5-2 hours
- Be flexible — your players have busy lives!
Once your team is ready, join a local league for organized play, tournaments, and community connection.
- Ask local teams about leagues in your area
- If there's no league nearby, consider starting one!
- Contact us for help connecting with other teams
- Tournaments are a great way to build team spirit
